Upper Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame selects 2010 members

The Upper Peninsula loves its sports and, in turn, its athletes. That's why it's always noteworthy when the U.P. Sports Hall of Fame announces its next class of inductees, as the Daily Press reported recently. The article was written by sports editor Denny Grall, who happens to be a member of the Hall of Fame himself.

Excerpt: Inductees with very impressive credentials will join the Upper Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame in 2011.

A former major league baseball pitcher, two former Big 10 football players and a Big 10 baseball player, perhaps the most accomplished golfer in U.P. history, and two former women's college basketball standouts are among the 10 selections.

The choices were made recently by the UPSHF executive council at Kewadin Casino in St. Ignace, the first time the 23-member group has met at the peninsula's eastern entrance.
