Dunham's doubles down on Bay City with twice-as-big store, celebrates grand opening this weekend

Who says big box retail stores are dying?

Dunham’s Sports, the Troy, Michigan-based sporting goods retailer, is doubling down on Bay City.

The sporting goods chain has re-opened in Bangor Township at the Bay City Town Center. The new store, located in the former Younkers store, is listed at 44,678 square feet – twice the size of their previous location in the mall.

"Moving and re-opening this bigger store will allow us to better serve the sporting goods needs of Bay City and shows our continued commitment to the area," says Jeff Lynn, chairman and chief executive officer of Dunham’s Athleisure Corporation.

"Dunham’s prides itself on providing our customers with a wide variety of top-quality, value-oriented, name-brand merchandise at everyday low prices."

Operating under a soft opening since last week, the new store will be celebrating its grand re-opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. on Fri., Sept. 20.

On that day, the first 100 adults in line will receive a Dunham’s Sports T-shirt. Anyone who makes a $10 purchase will receive a free six-pack of Coke or Diet Coke.

On Sat., Sept. 21, the first 100 adults in line will receive a Dunham’s Sports baseball cap. And finally, on Sun., Sept. 22, the first 50 adults or families in line will receive a $10 Dunham’s Sports gift card.

"Dunham’s Sports has doubled the size of their store showing their commitment to Bay City Town Center and the overall Bay City-Bangor Township area," says Barbara Behmlander, General Manager of the Bay City Town Center.

"Our ownership continues to attract new businesses that will bring people to Bay City Town Center – more frequently than in the past. We look forward to more openings in the future – meeting the community needs for retail, service, entertainment, and lifestyle enhancements."

Dunham’s Sports at the Bay City Town Center are located at 4125-2 Wilder Road.
