Ring in spring with Bay City businesses for annual Open House

Downtown Bay City is ready to celebrate the new season with its annual Welcome Spring Open House, an event that has been drawing visitors to city streets for more than fifteen years.

Scheduled for Friday, April 19, and Saturday, April 20, Welcome Spring Open House is meant to showcase downtown businesses and the debut of their spring collections, menus, and more. The nearly 40 participating businesses each have their own specials, sales, discounts, and activities planned.

"The Open House highlights our businesses here in downtown Bay City. And it’s a great way for people to get out of the house," says Susie Maxwell, Executive Director of the Downtown Management Board and Downtown Development Authority.

"Winter is finally over. Let’s celebrate that, too."

In addition to the bevy of new dishes and products set to debut, there are a number of activities and events planned throughout the course of Welcome Spring Open House.

The Delta College Planetarium is offering a special $3 ticket to its Dome360 Theatre at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Studio 23 will be showcasing its newly renovated space, punctuated by all-ages art activities from noon to 4 p.m. each day.

On Friday, City Market will offer a tour of the grounds at 12:15 p.m.

And on Saturday, the market will host an Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m., the Sweet Peach Children’s Boutique Fashion Show at 11 a.m., and the Community Teaching Kitchen Demonstration: Spring Radish Salad with Bob Younce of The Devout Sprout Salad Bar & Eatery at 12:30 p.m.

"Let’s get everyone downtown and walking around again and going to stores," Maxwell says.

"It just puts everyone in a good mood."
