At the end of August, young entrepreneur and massage therapist Diane Brown, opened her 825 square foot massage studio, Solace Therapeutic in Meridian Township.
Brown specializes in clinical massage or trigger point therapy such as Swedish massage, which is primarily used for relaxation. She also offers reflexology, sports massage and prenatal massage.
Brown shares her 5093 East Brookfield Dr. space with a dentist. The space is divided into four rooms so multiple massages can be conducted simultaneously.
“We really liked this space because we can market to Okemos, Haslett and East Lansing,” Brown says, adding that she’s sharing the space with two other massage therapists.
Though Brown has already started a business, she also hopes to attend Michigan State University’s (MSU) College of Osteopathic Medicine.
“Anything I can read about the human body I pick up and read because it’s really interesting to me,” Brown says. “I started with massage because it’s a more holistic type of healing and I wanted to understand it (healing) from a different perspective.”
The Brown household is a bit of a south Lansing entrepreneurial hub. Brown’s partner, Sarah Haubert, recently launched her own pet service business, Lansing Companion Animal Services.
