North Sky development set to move forward with City Council's OK

The north side of Ann Arbor grows denser by the day, especially now that the City Council has approved plans for the North Sky development on Pontiac Trail just south of Dhu Varren Road.

The new development will turn 31 acres of woods/farmland into a sub division of 196 homes. The homes will include single-family (92 units), duplex (62), four-unit (40) and above-garage houses (2). The styles in homes will be reminiscent of small-town Midwestern architecture between the late 19th Century and World War II.

The homes will either have garages accessed by an alley or underneath the structures in the case of the multiple-unit buildings. No parking lots are included in the design but there will be on-street parking.

Sidewalks will also be incorporated throughout the development along with a neighborhood park and greenway. The neighborhood is laid out more like a traditional city neighborhood than a suburban sub division. There are two roads leading out to Pontiac Trail and no cul-de-sacs.
