More office space is heading for Ann Arbor just as its new economy start-ups gain traction and create jobs.
A developer wants to raze two single-family homes on South State Street to make way for the Wintermeyer office building's big expansion. Good thing the Ann Arbor City Council thought it was a good idea, giving the developer the go ahead Monday night.
Each house sits on a parcel of land just south of the railroad tracks and north of the University of Michigan Tennis Center. The developer wants to add them together to make room for a 2-story office building expansion. As a result the 17,000-square-foot building will gain another 10,000 square feet and 21 more parking spaces.
