Ypsilanti, EMU bring streetscaping to West Cross

A lot of things are about to get easier along West Cross Street in Ypsilanti, such as walking, biking ...and sitting. The one thing that won't get easier is littering.
That will be thanks to new streetscape furniture to be installed along the street between the Water Tower and Huron River.
Eastern Michigan University
and the
Depot Town Downtown Development Authority
are paying for new benches, bike racks and trashcans along the thoroughfare.
"That way the line between EMU and the city won't be so bright," says Brian Vosburg, executive director for the Depot Town Downtown Development Authority. "It will help tie the two together."
Work crews will be installing the new street furniture within the next two months. The bike racks will be in the same artistic style of those set to be installed in downtown in December.
