Architectural Resource uses sustainable practices to create jobs

Succeeding in the home architecture game is far from easy, but it's just what Architectural Resource has done since 1991.

The Ann Arbor-based firm focuses solely on new home designs, additions and renovations. It handles projects both locally and in places as far away as Portland, Oregon and South Carolina.

"It's the clients goals, not our goals, that are paramount," says Michael Klement, principal of Architectural Resource.

This customer-is-always-right philosophy is working well for the company, even in the face of the dismal housing market. The boutique firm now employs five people and has opening for two more positions right now. Those jobs are for an architectural designer and business manager.

However, growth is the biggest goal for Architectural Resource. Klement still makes sure he is personally involved in each and every project, something that wouldn't be possible if his company grew too large.

"We don’t want to be too big," Klement says. "Our goal is not to be big, but to be good."
