The Ann Arbor operations of
i3 Drug Safety will add 70 employees, bringing its grand total to 300. The pharmaceutical company will also be opening a second location, a 25,000-square foot office.

"This is an immediate need by a customer," he said. "Our [top] customers are the big pharma companies, and the growth is driven by not only their investment in the research and development of new pharmaceuticals, but by the recent focus of the FDA and companies on drug safety."
i3's growth in Ann Arbor marks perhaps the most significant victory for the local life sciences community since Pfizer Inc. announced in January its decision to close its 2.3-million-square-foot facility here and displace more than 2,100 workers.
i3's plans to grow also mark the latest in a series of positive developments for the local pharmaceutical services industry.
