Metromode reported late last year that Ann Arbor-based
ProQuest
- an information collecting, organzing and publishing company - was "moving on up," with a site expansion and plans for aggressive hiring in the works. This week, we learned that ProQuest is expanding in another way, with the purchase of Maryland-based
RefWorks
.

ProQuest
says it plans to integrate
RefWorks
with its Community of Science offering, a networking product for scholars called Scholar Universe, which connects them to 1.4 million other scholars, digests their research interests, and more.
