From art to homes to hotels. That's the path Spin Advertising has grown in its first seven years as the marketing firm has found itself.
Tom and Adrienne Cormie founded the company when Adrienne Cormie helped do some marketing and website development for the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair. The firm then took on some work from home builders across Washtenaw County. That led to work for mega developments across the country and local marquee developments, such as the Book Cadillac Hotel and the Watermark condos.
That type of work has let Spin grown to two full-time employees and four more part-timers. It hopes to add another two people to its full-time staff within the next year for account and design work.
"We're at the critical juncture right now where it's becoming necessary," says Tom Cormie. "There is a good creative class around here and we want to tap into that."
And the Cormies want to get their company into more web-based marketing and website development. The company specializes in updating website and search engine optimization so the right people see websites.
"We found that there was a lot of stuff out there that nobody saw," Tom Cormie says. "Why have a beautiful site if nobody ever sees it."
But people are starting to notice Spin Advertising. The company has experienced 400 percent growth in the last years and has watched its sales go from $100,000 to close to $1 million. Not a bad bracket to grow into.
