Hollywood still shooting scenes around Ann Arbor

Ann Arbor continues to be a hot spot for Hollywood as more and more pictures continue to be filmed here.

Excerpt:

Following three days of filming in Ann Arbor's Virginia Park, the crew of the Rob Reiner movie "Flipped" was set to move to north Ann Arbor today.

The city has approved a request from Castle Rock Pictures to close Briarcliff Street from Renfew Street to Aurora Street, and Prairie Street from Aurora Street to Bluette Drive, on an as-needed basis through Friday, Aug. 14.

According to Jan Barber, management assistant for the city's Community Services department, it's all dependent on weather.

Castle Rock Pictures, Inc. has given neighborhood residents passes that will enable them to get past the barricades and to their homes.

"Flipped" is based on a book by Wendelin Van Draanen that tells the story of a young girl named Juli growing up in the late 1950s and early1960s and her friendship with a boy.
