Not everything the state's new governor, Rick Snyder, is doing has been met with acclaim, but one thing it's hard not to support is the recent announcement that the Pure Michigan tourism campaign will continue. Here's what Bay City officials had to say.
Excerpt: Officials in Bay City are applauding Gov. Rick Snyder's decision to extend the Pure Michigan travel promotion advertising campaign.
The legislation allows an additional $10 million to be transferred to Pure Michigan from the state's 21st Century Jobs Fund.
"I see that as a real plus for promoting tourism," said Michael Seward, Bay Area Chamber of Commerce president. "It brings people into Michigan and into the Bay-area to spend more money and stay at our hotels and eat at our restaurants and shop at our stores."
