A Great Lakes Bay area artist is being recognized for his work in the annual ArtPrize competition.
Excerpt: Out of 1,536 entries in four categories, Midland resident Armin Mersmann's pencil drawing "Gabriella" has clinched a spot as one of 20 finalists for ArtPrize 2014 in Grand Rapids.
Along with the chance at a $20,000 category award or the $200,000 grand prize based on the public vote, the piece has drawn thousands of onlookers and ranks Mersmann as an ArtPrize finalist for his first time in six years of entering the event.
