Mid-Michigan B&Bs redefining themselves as escape from technology

Even though mid-Michigan is known for its tech industry and connectedness, it also has some traditional bed-and-breakfasts who say the culture of connectivity actually helps them, as people plan retreats from the e-world.

Excerpt: “Many of our guests don’t bring a computer or have a cell phone,” said Ron Lutz, who co-owns Country Chalet and Edelweiss Haus Bed and Breakfast with his wife, Carolyn. “I think the most dramatic piece of our business is that ... we love to share stories.”

Lutz said there will always be people looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of life, and these are the people who choose bed and breakfasts.
