Michigan's top execs talk about how to innovate

Several CEOs in Michigan got together to talk innovation, and among them was Dow Chemical exec Bill Weideman.

Excerpt: Innovation is a constant, every-day target and the key to future growth in a global economy, say the top executives of seven large companies with significant Michigan operations.

"I think the current life-cycle of companies is five years," Jeff Fettig, chairman and chief executive officer of major home appliance maker Whirlpool Corp., said. "If you don't reinvent yourself every five years, you run the risk of being extinct."
