For a lot of people, Sept. 11, 2001 wasn’t just something that happened in New York or Washington, D.C., but something much more personal. In Frankenmuth, the fire department is creating a monument to tell the story to future generations.
Excerpt: In some eyes, it’s a rusty, twisted piece of metal, but to a nation, it represents a breach of America’s security and the loss nearly 3,000 lives.
A 10-foot-long steel girder, recovered from the wreckage of the World Trade Center after the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks involving four hijacked jets, is in place as part of a permanent memorial at the Frankenmuth Fire Department.
