Even as a new C2AE office opens in Kalamazoo this week, the full-service architectural, engineering and planning design firm already anticipates more growth.
C2AE Director of Marketing and Communications Tobi Lyon says the Kalamazoo office at 211 E. Water St., planned to open July 30, initially employs six people relocated from the company's Grand Rapids office. By September, three new positions will be added. Lyon says more positions will be added by the end of the year, but that number is yet to be determined.
The company, which employs about 115 people, has seen record growth across Michigan and the Midwest, Lyon says, leading to the addition of the Kalamazoo office.
The new office is the fifth location for C2AE, which is headquartered in Lansing with additional offices in Grand Rapids, Gaylord and Escanaba.
"We chose Kalamazoo because it's approximately between Lansing and Grand Rapids," Lyon says. "We chose the
Globe Building because it's close to downtown and the square footage allowed for the expansion we needed. Availability of space is very rare in Kalamazoo."
Lyon says the company feels Kalamazoo will be a great place to attract and retain staff.
"Going to a new location is a great avenue to be able to attract staff from another area," she says.
Lyon says C2AE has active projects in eight states and three countries outside the U.S. and had more than 400 projects in 2011.
"We are a full-service agency, which many firms are not," Lyon says. "That led to much of our growth. I do expect this won't be the only growth announcement we will have in 2012."
