A company that specializes in helping businesses get their products from point A to point B is expanding in Midlink Business Park in Comstock Township.
Kenco Logistic Services, which currently uses 210,000 square feet in the business park, is upping the size of its the property it leases by 100,000 square feet. The space is next to that it currently uses. The company also says it will be adding 12 employees.
Kenco recently landed a deal to provide service to a U.S. company that manufactures products for the food industry. The agreement meant that property leased in Midlink needed to be brought up to AIB standards, which the business park was able to accomplish.
AIB standards compile the best practices issued by such global organizations as the U.S. Department of Health and Welfare, Food and Drug Administration and others. Midlink President David Smith says helping Kenco meet AIB standards should bring the park more tenants in the food industry.
Smith says two of a number of reasons Kenco and other companies are expanding their operations at Midlink is because they appreciate the business park’s location off I-94 and the tax benefits of locating in a Renaissance Zone.
As a provider of logistics solutions, Kenco offers its customers public warehousing, comprehensive transportation management, material handling services, real estate management, and supply chain intelligence among other services.
"Our current operations and strong relationship with Midlink, strengthen our roots in Michigan and position us strategically for continued growth in the Midwest,” says David Caines, president of Kenco Logistic Services. "We look forward to future expansion in this area."
