Four American Bald Eagles move into St. Joe County neighborhood

Residents on Lake Templene, southeast of Centreville in St. Joseph County, are seeing American Bald Eagles on a regular basis, MLive.com reports.

There have been sightings of as many as four eagles soaring over the water and perching in mature stands of trees surrounding the 1,100-acre lake.

Many people associate the majestic bird with America's West. But the Michigan Audubon Society reports the Wolverine state currently ranks behind just Alaska and Wisconsin in the number of breeding pairs identified in federal surveys. Experts say nearly 28 percent of Michigan townships have documented Bald Eagle sightings.
