The Memorial Day holiday was a time for youngsters to enjoy the Whirlpool Compass Fountain below the Bluff along the walk to Silver Beach in St. Joseph.
The $1 million fountain project, one part of a nearly $11 million dollar development near Silver Beach, first started misting the air in 2009.
It features 28 water jets of varying height. The jets shoot out 785 gallons of water per minute.
There also are eight water cannons that spray water 35 feet into the air. The cannons spray 2,560 gallons of water per minute. The fountain's water reservoir holds 10.860 gallons of recycled water.
The water cannons go on and off periodically.
