After 15 years, the students at Community Music School in Battle Creek continue to mind their scales and fingerings. The school now has more than 600 students.
On Feb. 14, 1996, the Community Music School started offering lessons from the First Congregational Church to 67 students, reports the Battle Creek Enquirer.

The husband and wife team of Peter and Pamela Ingalls used their experience as administrators for the Battle Creek Symphony to raise the funds and organize music teachers. The goal was "a community school that was open to all ages, regardless of income," Peter Ingalls said.
