Ypsilanti looks to help green spaces with Adopt-a-Park program

Ypsilanti officials are looking to give their city's park a big hug by starting an Adopt A Park program.

The program would serve as an innovative way for city officials to make the most of scarce city resources by harnessing the goodwill of local residents. This way local residents not satisfied with the condition of their park can step in and do something about it.

"There are a lot of neighborhood associations that are already doing this, which is great," says April McGrath, assistant city manage for Ypsilanti.

The program would also give city officials access to more information of who volunteers and how much. That would allow them to better maximize the efforts of local residents to improve their community.
