Ann Arbor city staff will present their findings on possible solutions for improving Huron River Drive at a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. June 7 in the Forsythe Middle School, 1655 Newport Road.
The city's design committee for the project has evaluated the strengths and weaknesses of various improvement alternatives. The city is looking at rebuilding the road between North Main Street and Bird Road, along the Huron River. It held a public walkthrough on the road in April.
City staff is trying to determine what kind of improvements to make to the street, which is in “very poor” condition, according to the city. There are a number of issues in need of addressing, including expanding the road for multi uses, managing drainage and protecting a sensitive habitat on the Huron River. Options on what to do with the road range from closing it to motorized traffic to repaving it.
