Loft living is coming to Ferndale's emerging Hilton District.
Detroit-based Sterling Group plans to break ground on its Twelve:01 loft project this fall in what had been for years a vacant lot. The new, three-story building will be located at 1201 Woodward Heights in the emerging Hilton District, where a number of new technology firms are taking root.
The development features 21 industrial style lofts priced from $118,000. The lofts range in size from 500 to 1,100 square feet and include studios, one bedroom and two bedrooms. They feature "loft" characteristics of open spaces, multiple levels, spiral staircases, floor to ceiling windows 11-foot ceilings, balconies and parking. The project is set for completion in the summer of 2008.
The Sterling Group is targeting a segment of loft buyers seeking affordability in a walkable community with a vibrant night life and other amenities. Higher priced residential lofts have dominated the loft boom in Metro Detroit in recent years.
