After a hectic and successful year filming the well-regarded science fiction series InZer0, Thought Collide Productions will screen its twelfth and final episode on May 1 at 7:30 p.m. as part of the Mitten Movie Project film festival.
The screening will take place at the Main Art Theatre where, for the past year, each episode of InZer0 has been shown to a packed house. Thought Collide's Suzanne Janik says, "We've continued to draw 200-250 people per showing, and [for the finale,] we're expecting a complete sell-out." She says that members of the Michigan Film Advisory Commission, investors, media and local filmmakers are all expected.
Janik says that wrapping the shoot has produced "mixed emotions." She explains, "It's a little bit of relief and a little bit of pain."
The "family" that has grown out of such an intense experience will not be apart for long, however. In May, most of the cast and crew will begin shooting a feature-length film, InZer0: Fragile Wings. Several locations are secured, including the Boat House and Conservancy on Belle Isle, the Fisher Building and private residences in Palmer Woods and Indian Village.
The film will be a prequel to the episodic series as well as an expansion of episode 1. Janik explains, "We learned so much over the past year, we wanted to expand the story and tell a little bit more of the beginning of it."
Thought Collide hopes their experience will open the door for other film opportunities in Detroit and Michigan. Says Janik: "We hope that the national and international attention to InZer0 will lead to more projects for the entire Michigan and Detroit art and film communities."
Advance tickets are available for $11 via Paypal at www.myspace.com/inzero. An afterglow will follow the screening at Bastone, four blocks south of the Main Art Theatre.
