Bugs be gone! BioGreen Solutions expects 300% sales growth

Insect removal is usually a case of using chemicals, evacuating a home for a few days, or even trashing things. That's not how BioGreen Solutions cleans up messes.

The Bloomfield Hills-based business uses heat and fogging techniques to get rid of everything from bedbugs to the smoke smell in bars. It uses no chemicals in the process, making for more environmentally friendly and healthier dwellings and businesses.

Its latest product gets bedbugs out of mattresses and other furnishings using an intense heating process. The process draws the bugs to the heat and kills them, while ensuring new ones don't resurface.

"They kill and also inhibit growth," says Larry Smith, president and CEO of BioGreen Solutions. "That is the genesis of BioGreen Solutions, to be proactive."

The 2-year-old firm services hotel brands across 14 states and expects to reach all 50 states within one year. That should fuel its expected 300 percent revenue growth in 2011. "It's on a robust growth pattern," Smith says.

The company started with two people and now has 11 employees and three independent contractors. It expects to hire 12 more within the next year as it continues to expand. "We can't build this out without adding people," Smith says. "We are constantly hiring people."
