ConnecTech expands to develop new economy workforce

While a lot of incubators and start-up zones concentrating on developing businesses, there is an institution that is focusing on developing the workforce that will serve that new economy -- ConnecTech.

The association of 850 people in eight chapters is growing, too. It plans to double the number of members in its Metro Detroit chapter to about 600 people within the next year, while offering more programs.

"Our objective is to really bring innovation together," says Sara Gozmanian, vice president of ConnecTech.

The workforce-development initiative serves a number of purposes, such as bringing like minded professionals together to make connections and exchange ideas. ConnecTech also puts on a small series of programs for its members where it lets them interact with leaders in technological fields and technologies, like Adobe, as well as top companies.

The idea is to create more synergies between workers and expose them to the latest trends in their fields. It's something the association has been doing since it was founded in 1999.
