Meditrina to hire 4, clinical development continues

With a $200,000 loan from --yes, you guessed it-- the state's Company Formation and Growth Fund in hand, Ann Arbor's Meditrina Pharmaceuticals is poised to add four new positions.

"We basically develop products for women's health," says President Thomas A. Collet. "We'll use (the loan) to recruit clinical development staff. There are a couple of programs we will staff with those individuals."

Meditrina, Collet says, develops health products for women's health. According to the company's Web site, Meditrina's main thrust is to re-purpose existing products that may have additional applications.

For example, Collet says, "We have an ongoing program for endometrial thinning to treat abnormal uterine bleeding."

The company, founded in 2006, currently has six employees in Ann Arbor and Kalamazoo.

The state loans are aimed at keeping people and equipment from Pfizer, Inc.'s soon-to-close Ann Arbor facility in the state.
