Netlink plans for 200 hires, eyes acquisitions

There’s two ways for a company to grow – acquisition or internal growth – and Madison Heights-based Netlink, Inc., is poised to do both in 2008.

The company is looking at the acquisition of two unnamed companies, one in Europe and one in the United States, says Greg Hacias, senior vice-president of human resources, and has ambitious hiring plans. Netlink's plans could create as many as 200 new jobs by 2010, he says, but that’s not set in stone.

"I think there's going to be a big bang next year," he says. "It would not surprise me at all if we could fast forward a year from today and we’ve hired 200 people - but that's a moving target, that's an objective, it's a goal."

Hacias says Netlink is in a rapid state of growth, and having doubled in size each of the last three years. He attributes part of the company’s success to a promise to reduce any company’s information technology budget by 20 percent.

"We think we're very talented and cost effective," he says. "We brag and beat our chests that whatever our customers are spending today on their IT budget, we think we can cut it by 20 percent. When we can go to a CFO or CIO, and talk about shaving 20 percent off the IT budget, that's significant."

In 2008, Hacias says, the company plans to maintain its strong presence in the automotive industry while pursuing new opportunities in the healthcare and financial sectors.

Last week, the company moved from Southfield into the Madison Heights building.
