Net Sense plans to triple in size within next year

David Lamkin is living the be-your-own-boss dream.

The entrepreneur started Net Sense as an after-hours gig in 2003, hoping to capitalize on his decades worth of computer programming experience. It became his full-time job in 2005. Today he's getting ready to turn one of his most dependable independent contractors into the programming and custom software company's first employee.

"Every single quarter is better than the last one," Lamkin says. "We grow from the work we do."

Which is a simple way of saying the Clinton Township-based firm relies on reputation and word-of-mouth to find new clients. It's worked well so far, and Lamkin sees it getting even better in the near future, despite the tough economy.

Lamkin expects his company to triple in size within the next year, adding up to four new people. That would make Lamkin the boss of his own little empire, letting him dream a few bigger dreams.
