Political Pill Pets bridges partisanship with everyday functionality

Robert Mazur isn't just about making innovative consumer products at his company, B.A.Maze. It's about making products that people feel invested in.

The Canton-based business has created several consumer products, such as the PurrFect Gripper, which was recently showcased on the Food Network. B.A.Maze's latest spin-off of the productline is the Political Pill Pets, a handheld device that helps users do everything from open medicine bottles to opening pill packaging. The hook is that users can get them in either Republican or Democrat versions.

"It's not just about making products, it's about connecting with something people care about," Mazur says. "People are passionate about their politics."

B.A.Maze's team of three people plans to make this a Made-in-Michigan product and recently launched a crowd-funding campaign to get the project off the ground. They would like to raise or sell $3,000 worth of the Political Pill Pets so they can get some traction in the market place and help fund itself.

"The hope is it catches someone's eye and it goes viral," Mazur says.
