No one likes garbage. That's why it is garbage. But people just can't keep throwing it away, and it looks like they haven't. For the 3rd straight year Michigan landfills have seen a decrease in the amount of garbage filling them.

The amount of garbage dumped in Michigan landfills declined for the third straight year in 2008, according to a report from the Department of Environmental Quality released today.
Michigan landfills received 57.1 million cubic yards of waste in 2008, down from 58.1 million in 2007, the report said. Michigan waste generators accounted for all of the decline, as waste imports grew slightly in 2008.
