Huntington Woods Men's Club go solar with new project

The Huntington Woods Men's Club's plan to donate solar panels was unanimously approved by the City Commission and installation will begin this spring. After raising funds in a spring auction, the Men's Club spent over a year finalizing their goal to install the panels on the Rec Center's roof.

The Men's Club has raised over $1.25 million for the city in its 36-year history. After this spring’s auction, a new initiative to bring single-stream recycling buckets to Huntington Woods will be the club's main objective.

The panels will generate between $1,000 and $1,500 per year in energy savings for the city, but according to Men’s Club President Jay Qualman, the more essential goal is for Huntington Woods to lead by example and point its younger generations toward the future of energy consumption.
