Here's one more story of how the film industry has affected something
that calls Michigan home. This time it's a sound studio in Southfield.
And it's expanding 20,000
square-feet in anticipation of incoming film projects.
Excerpt:
"We want to be at the forefront of new media," said Rose, 63, who
runs the business with his son and vice president, Chris Rose, 34; Chad
Cooper, 35; and a team of 70 employees, some who have been with the
company since it opened in the same Southfield strip mall back in 1976.
The expansion will be complete in January.
Over the years Renee Zellweger, Jeff Daniels, Aretha Franklin, George
Lucas, J.P. McCarthy, Vincent Price and Tim Allen have recorded voice
tracks, commercials and other audio components at the studio. Business
for the new studios is promising: The Michigan Film Office cites nine
films coming soon to Michigan and another nine in production.
"The added space will be a very cool, creative environment, very
dynamic and fun to work," says Arik Green of Ferndale, the interior
designer whose aim is to create a hip, comfortable space where clients
can work up to 24 hours a day to finish projects.
