Baker College's Cisco Health IT program receives national accredition

In just three quarters of academic study, students at Baker College of Auburn Hills can now earn a CISCO Healthcare Information Technology certificate, addressing a nationwide shortage in healthcare IT professionals.

The accelerated program recently received accreditation from the U.S. Dept of Education; students will also be able to receive government-sponsored financial aid when enrolling in the program.

CISCO's Healthcare IT program is a partnership between Baker’s Auburn Hills campus and the CISCO Network Academy. CISCO has created the curriculum, implemented web resources, and develops internship/job placement opportunities specific to the healthcare IT industry.

"This is very exciting for Baker College and for our students," said Ken Piggott, Baker College of Auburn Hills dean of technology. "We’ve doubled the number of weekly classes, therefore students who enroll for winter 2011 quarter will be able to complete their technical requirements and earn the required 60 credit hours by the end of August 2011."
