Royal Oak is looking to get a piece of the stimulus pie.

The Royal Oak City Commission voted last week to apply for a
$543,000 grant from The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
A total of $3.2 billion nationwide was allocated for the Energy
Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program.
The
Obama administration announced last month that nearly $77 million is
available for local energy efficiency improvements in Michigan. Royal
Oak is eligible to receive $543,400, according to Timothy E. Thwing,
director of planning for Royal Oak.
The
program is intended to spur economic growth and create and/or retain
jobs. To receive the funding, the city must submit an application by
June 25.
