The Farmington Farmers and Artisans Market is in full bloom even though summer is over.

The Farmington Farmers and Artisans Market is in full bloom.

"September and October are typically the best times for our market and there is no shortage of fresh fruits and vegetables at this time of year," said Annette Knowles, executive director of the Farmington Downtown Development Authority, which sponsors the market.

"We are getting record crowds," said Scott Stevenson, market master. "It's very encouraging."

He estimates some 5,000 people visit the market each Saturday.


About 25 farmers and artisans are at the 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday market at the Walter Sundquist Pavilion at Grand River and Groves streets. A wide selection of flowers and plants, plus seasonal fruits and vegetables, are available -- so are bakery goods and honey.
