New Jobs Headed to Oakland County

The MEDC announced funding for a series of projects that could bring hundreds of new jobs to Oakland County. And with an emphasis on diversifying the economy, the projects include everything from traditional manufacturing to new-economy sectors like clean energy and medical devices.

The MEDC's aggressive funding support includes a $2.5 million tax credit over seven years to Navistar, a Chicago-based manufacturer of trucks and military equipment. In return, Navistar will build a $4-million dollar technical engineering center in Madison Heights that is expected to create 87 direct jobs with Navistar, and an estimated 94 indirect jobs in the area.

In addition, Oxus America Inc. will build a new office in Rochester Hills, and Romeo RIM Inc. will receive support to expand into Bruce Township in Macomb County.
