Five Novi businesses have received the city's first business recognition award.

"In these struggling times, to be able to help recognize businesses
that do good things not only in their own work place, but in the
community is a plus," Topouzian said. "We had a lot of great nominees,
but certainly, everyone can't win."
Of about 20 nominees, a
committee selected five award recipients in three categories; small
business, large business and outstanding community leader. There were
eight honorable mentions.
"We have a real commitment here in
Novi," said Kathie Shaffer, public and community relations manager of
Fox Run, one of the two large business winners. "I think it's great
that Novi is recognizing that there are significant businesses in this
area that are making contributions to the tax base and to the
community."
