Not as many auto suppliers are needed these days. That has some businesses responding quickly, and the creative approach a Plymouth company is taking could serve as a model for others in our state.

Covers for air bags are just one of the products Argent International manufactures for the auto industry. The 30 year old company makes pressure sensitive adhesive products that are used on the interiors and exteriors of cars.

"99-percent automotive. Very, very dependent," said company president John Haapala. "We had 160 (employees) last fall and we're down to 60 right now, and the entire economic tsunami that has hit us has really devastated the operations."
