A company with a long history in the Plymouth area is returning to its roots as it launches a new product and seeks new markets.
Unisys Corp.'s document- and cash-processing equipment and service business has been spun off as a separate company owned by a private equity firm.
Renamed Burroughs Payment Systems, the company will be headquartered in Plymouth Township at Plymouth Road and Haggerty -- in the building first opened in 1937 by the former Burroughs Corp.
"Burroughs is back!" said Alan Howard, the chief executive officer, during a gathering held Thursday afternoon to launch the new company.
