If the first three years of Detroit River Days were about connecting residents to downtown's revitalized riverfront, this year's version is about celebrating the area's long maritime history, the city's culture and its unique environment.
Kicking off Friday and coming to an explosive conclusion Monday with the 52nd annual Target Fireworks show, the event's programming will still have plenty of rides, carnival food and entertainment. But a plethora of new activities designed to accentuate the RiverWalk's unique footprint will be unveiled, says Sandra van Meek, director of programming & external affairs for the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy.
