Metro Airport tops in customer survey

Detroit Metro Airport ranks tops in customer satisfaction among the nation's large airports, according to a new J.D. Power and Associates survey out today.

It’s not clear how much of Metro’s jump to the top from a tie for 12th place in 2008 has to do with the new North Terminal, which opened in 2008, replacing the outdated Smith and Berry terminals. But the airport’s score of 705 out of 1,000 possible points improved after the McNamara Terminal opened in 2002 as a hub for Northwest Airlines, which has since merged with Delta Airlines.

Stuart Greif, vice president and general manager of the global travel and hospitality practice at J.D. Power and Associates, said airports in general improved their scores in providing core customer services.
