Midland Center for the Arts closes out June with musical tribute, global concert and youth theater

As June winds down, Midland Center for the Arts invites audiences to cap off the month with a trio of unforgettable performances, from the electrifying journey of “Tina – The Tina Turner Musical” to the international rhythms of the Camerata Singers’ spring concert and a heartwarming youth production of “Freaky Friday A New Musical.”

Musical biography of Tina Turner 

Audiences can experience the powerful life story of one of music’s greatest performers in “Tina – The Tina Turner Musical” for three showings: Friday, June 20 at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, June 21 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Katori Hall, the production features a high-energy soundtrack of Turner’s greatest hits and chronicles her rise from humble beginnings to global superstardom.

Tickets start at $49.50 and are available to purchase online.

Please be aware that most rows in the auditorium are accessible only by stairs, and there is no elevator. If anyone in your party has accessibility concerns, contact the ticket office at 989-631-8250.

Midland Center for the ArtsCamerata Singers celebrate the music of the Americas

On Sunday, June 22, at 7 p.m., the Midland Center’s Camerata Singers will present their Annual Spring Concert at Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1310 Ashman St.
 
This year’s program explores the sounds of the Americas with music from the U.S., Brazil, Ecuador, Cuba, and Argentina. The performance also features a special appearance by the Center Stage Chorale, conducted by Dr. Letícia Grützmann. 

Tickets are $16 plus fees, with general admission seating. Online ticket sales will close at 4 p.m. the day of the event, with any remaining seats available at the door.

Midland Center for the ArtsRising Stars present “Freaky Friday A New Musical"

Midland Center’s Rising Stars program will present “Freaky Friday A New Musical” June 25–27 at 7:30 p.m. in the Little Theater. 

Directed by Anne McAlexander with musical direction by Sherri Angelotti, the show follows a mother and daughter who switch bodies and must navigate each other’s lives for a day. The production explores empathy, self-discovery, and the powerful bond between parent and child.

The show offers general admission seating, with tickets priced at $21 for adults and $17.50 for students.
