Eaton Corp. in Marshall, Mich., has an opening for a COE Engineering Manager. This is a full-time, mid-senior level position.

Job Description
The Engineering Manager will provide engineering management and leadership for the Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) function for global Industrial Sector product lines in order to support business growth of the Vehicle Group, Hydraulics Group and Aerospace Group businesses.

Manage and develop a team of engineering professionals, project and program schedules and budgets, and provide technical direction to support key strategic initiatives.

Lead NVH activities with cross-functional participation from business engineering teams, program management, business development, technical service, customer support engineering, and systems engineering teams to ensure completion of deliverables to accomplish profit plan goals.

Lead NVH engineering strategy on new and current product development programs based on the technology roadmap and business growth strategy.

Manage engineering resources to ensure NVH performance of new product development programs achieves flawless launch status.

Essential Functions:
A. Supervises and manages the department activities within the NVH COE, establishes priorities within the scope of the group’s responsibility, and conducts regular reviews of group projects and activities to ensure delivery of profit plan objectives and business commitments.

B. Builds organizational capability by conducting regular performance evaluations for direct reports and global functional reports contributing to performance reviews of functional reports. Facilitates career discussions with subordinates and creates appropriate development plans to ensure continuous growth of talent and capability within the organization.

C. Champions changes to current procedures and develops new procedures to ensure continuous improvement of engineering processes and business systems.

D. Leads initiatives to evaluate and provide competitive assessment and industry trends through business intelligence gathering activities. Remains knowledgeable and informed regarding state-of-the-art technology and transfers this into tangible contributions.

E. Prepares comprehensive reports and presentations, and communicates this information to leadership, customers, partners, etc., in a clear and concise manner.

F. Provides input to profit plan to define project and program deliverables and accurately assess timelines, and resources to accomplish these objectives. Tracks progress on a regular basis to enable monthly reporting of variance to plan.

G. Interfaces with product planning and other business functions to ensure customer requests and requirements are captured in the strategic planning and portfolio management processes.

H. Contributes to strategic direction and advancement of current functional technology and development of new technology and product feature sets, to drive value propositions that command a premium for the associated products.

I. Leads and coordinates engineering projects and programs with external partners, suppliers, academia, and customers to develop technology solutions to meet internal and external customer requirements for the Industrial Sector’s product portfolio.

J. Drives the use of tools such as 8D, FTA, DFMEA, and DFSS/Six Sigma design techniques to ensure development of robust design specifications, guidelines, processes, and NVH design validation plans that produce robust design solutions for NVH characteristics.

K. Partners with global product teams, industry consultants, and contractors to execute on warranty reduction, reliability improvement, internal CONC reduction and new product development programs.

L. Interfaces with and supports suppliers and Industrial Sector manufacturing facilities to ensure production of world class NVH quality products and prevention of NVH related customer spills and ZMPD’s.

Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Engineering or MBA.

• 3-plus years engineering management and leadership experience with proven track record.

• Experience in NVH support of multiple businesses.

• 10-plus years of experience in, or strong knowledge of, heavy-duty truck or automotive drivetrain/powertrain systems as well as hydraulic systems NVH development.

• Understanding of global business markets and key customer drivers.

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering.

• 7 years of Noise, Vibration and Harshness engineering in powertrain design.

• Must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
