Ann Arbor working to determine future of Huron River Drive

The Ann Arbor City staff is looking for public input on what to do with Huron River Drive between North Main Street and Bird Road.

The city will close the road to motorized traffic for three hours, starting at 9 a.m. Saturday (April 21) so residents can walk, jog or bicycle the street. They are invited to talk to city staff at certain points on the route to give feedback about what to do with road.

City staff is trying to determine what kind of improvements to make to the street, which is in “very poor” condition, according to the city. There are a number of issues in need of addressing, including expanding the road for multi uses, managing drainage and protecting a sensitive habitat on the Huron River. Options on what to do with the road range from closing it to motorized traffic to repaving it.

For information, visit the city's website or call (734) 994-6155.
