Wayne State brings farmers market to Midtown

As if Eastern Market weren't enough for Detroit, local organizers are setting up a farmers' market in Detroit's Midtown neighborhood.

The farmers market is just one project of SEED -- others include the on-campus Warrior Demonstration Garden, in which students grow herbs and vegetables used in dining hall meals, and cafeteria composting. "We're really trying to be as comprehensive as we can," says Pothukutchi. "It's about 'from field to fork,' about getting students to think about what that means."

The target audience includes not only the WSU campus family -- students, faculty and staff -- but the greater Midtown community. Vendors will come from within the region, including the Vang Family Farm, Replenish the Earth, and Avalon International Breads.
