Baker College's Clinton Township campus is building a new facility for its new auto body technician certificate and associate degree programs.
The 13,253-square-foot building is set to be done by late September, just in time for the school's fall quarter classes. The structure will have classrooms, plus rooms for welding, storage and tools. There will also be offices, locker rooms, a wash and final detail room, a frame-straightening bay, and vehicle preparation deck.
All in all, it is expected to accommodate up to 14 vehicles. Graduates will be able to take the Automotive Service Excellence exam. Passage will allow them to find jobs in dealerships and independent repair facilities paying anywhere from $13 to $50 an hour.
