OCC renames building after philanthropist Doris Mosher

The key player establishing the Oakland Community College Foundation is now having the building that houses it named after her.

The college celebrated the foundation's 30th anniversary by naming its building
next to the George A. Bee Administrative Center in Bloomfield Hills the Doris Mosher Foundation House.

Doris Mosher served as the foundation's board member and, along with her husband George Mosher, played a crucial part in creating the foundation in the late 1970s as a longtime community activist. The couple also were instrumental in creating the community college in 1964.

She was a member of the foundation's board until her death in 2007. The foundation raises money to provide opportunities for students and enhance the quality of education at the college. Such funding, a common tool used in higher education, supports scholarships, libraries, the fine arts, equipment purchases, and program development.
